Now in their fourth year, The US-Ireland Research Innovation Awards recognise excellence in research innovation, creation and invention by an organisation, as a result of US foreign direct investment (FDI) in Ireland. The winners will be announced on 18 May at the Chamber’s Annual Dinner in the presence of Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys.

FARM AND DAIRY: Facial Recognition Can Help Dairymen Monitor Herd

I first heard about facial recognition research in the barn last May while I was at the One: Alltech Ideas Conference in Lexington, Kentucky. By using this visual imaging analysis, you can ID where, how and what an individual cow eats. You can see the bossy ones, and how cows react to their environment.

AGWIRED: Five Mineral Myths Busted

Alltech did some myth busting at the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) Cattle Industry Convention & Trade Show with regards to the latest strategies and newest technologies in trace mineral supplementation. A panel discussion including Dr. Vaughn Holder, ruminant research director with Alltech, conducted a forum where they busted five mineral myths relating to ruminant nutrition.
