If you’re on the market for a feeder wagon, you’ll be looking for a machine that is reliable, practical, results-proven and good value. All attributes that KEENAN delivers with a complete range of feeder wagons for sale.
KEENAN has a broad range of small, medium and large feeder wagons for sale, catering to any system and any budget.
Here’s a few factors to consider when searching for the right feeder wagon for your farm.
Consider the performance factors
1. Your health and feed efficiency targets
The KEENAN MechFiber with InTouch is proven to deliver a TMR that is ‘rumen-friendly’ consistently every day. Feed is then more efficiently digested and allocated to supporting immunity against challenges. Independent research, coupled with sample data from 24,450 dry cows on 277 farms, showcased health and productivity improvements in cows being fed using the KEENAN MechFiber.
2. The feeder wagon’s reputation for results
KEENAN has a 40-year strong reputation for delivering results across the world. When used correctly, KEENAN is unmatched on its capability to influence cow health and performance efficiency. Check out some of our farming stories here.
3. Operator reliability and monitoring
KEENAN benefits from InTouch feeding technology, including a controller fitted as standard, to ensure the diet prescribed is the diet actually fed every day. A team of dedicated feeding specialists provide ongoing unrivalled nutritional support.
4. Any carbon/methane emission commitments
The KEENAN MechFiber when fitted with InTouch is the first and only feeder wagon that has been validated by the Carbon Trust as helping to reduce methane emissions.
5. Fuel usage
The cost of fuel to feed cows can reach hundreds or even thousands of pounds each month. KEENAN can cut these costs by up to 50 percent.
Consider the practical factors
1. Small groups vs minimum capacity
KEENAN MechFiber is uniquely capable of feeding small groups (i.e. heifers or dry cows), no matter it’s cubic metre capacity.
2. Yard size and dynamics (i.e. tight corners)
KEENAN feeder wagons are manoeuvrable due to the position of the axles and the potential to shorten the drawbar. Steering axles can further optimise manoeuvrability, plus they increase tyre lifespan.
3. Animal numbers vs maximum capacity
All KEENAN feeder wagons produce TMR’s time-efficiently. The largest KEENAN MechFiber is 28m3 and the largest KEENAN Vertical Auger is 44m3.
4. Feed-out and discharge capabilities
KEENAN feeder wagons can be customised to feed on either side or even from the back, with capabilities to project the TMR into high troughs.
5. Horsepower requirement
KEENAN feeder wagons are designed to require low horsepower. The KEENAN MechFiber runs at a low RPM, while the KEENAN VA features a two-speed gearbox.
6. Availability of local service and support
KEENAN feeder wagons are uniquely backed by a network of service centres all over the UK; all committed to the promise that you’ll never miss a feed.
When to buy new vs approved/used
Buying any new machine is bound to have a greater outlay then buying the same machine second hand. But there’s a few factors to consider when establishing which option is most cost-effective and practical for your farm system.
Benefits of buying "new" |
Benefits of buying "used" or "approved" |
The latest KEENAN MechFiber+ offers even better mixing, quicker feed-out and greater durability. | You get the performance and practical benefits of the KEENAN MechFiber at a lower price tag. |
All new feeder wagons have the latest fourth generation InTouch technology fitted as standard. | KEENAN Approved feeder wagons go through a 60-point health check by an accredited service agent. |
You can build your own machine to order (i.e. custom feed-out, hardened liners, specific axles). | You can retrofit optional extras to suit your system (i.e. adding magnets to the feed-out tray). |
Buying new will offer a longer lifespan and all wagons carry a 12 month warranty. | You have ongoing access to the service agents and InTouch feeding specialists. |
So, if you can afford new, then go for it. You can always finance over a longer period with lower payments to help your cashflow! |

Want to try before you buy?
KEENAN doesn’t offer demonstration machines on the basis that cow performance improvements tend to take longer than a few days to realise.
Secondly, the feeder wagon is designed specifically to fit the system, and a demonstration machine wouldn’t necessarily fit the criteria.
Our team never sell a feeder wagon unless they are fully confident it is fit-for-purpose – ask anyone who is purchased from KEENAN recently!
KEENAN offer finance packages on ALL feeder wagons bought through us.
